Staglands Wildlife Reserve & Cafe - how to find us...

Staglands Wildlife Reserve is nestled in Akatarawa Valley, the perfect day trip and less than an hours’ drive from Wellington City. Staglands can be accessed from Kapiti or the Hutt Valley, via the main state highway. Both turn-offs to our animal farm park are well sign-posted. Please note: there is no public transport available to Staglands.

From Kapiti (and if travelling north):
Turn right off State Highway One (SH 1) at the northern set of the Waikanae traffic lights. Staglands Wildlife Reserve is just 30-35 minutes or 20km along this road which winds up into native bush.

From Hutt Valley or Wellington:
Head north on State Highway Two (SH2). At the northern end of Upper Hutt, on the left there is a Caltex service station (only one you will pass). Turn left 400m past this station onto Akatarawa Road. Staglands is just 20-25 minutes along this road (16km), which winds into a rural valley with lifestyle blocks.

The perfect relaxing family activity and so close to Wellington— why not make it a full day trip!
