Get up close and personal with the Staglands wildlife!
Our Wellington wildlife park is the perfect family activity or school group outing with fun for all ages! With your camera at the ready you can capture your child’s first encounter with some of New Zealand’s favourite birds and animals, for some warm fuzzy moments to treasure forever!
Staglands Wildlife Reserve takes a holistic approach to nature and includes impressive open plan aviaries and walkways which give a feeling of freedom for both the visitor and the animal. Staglands is unlike any zoo you’ve visited before!
There are plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with animals and birds that you are welcome to touch and hand feed! Most of the animals are super friendly and if you are quiet and patient they will come to you! Great for children’s parties and so close to Wellington!
We hope that your experience at our reserve will help to increase your awareness of the need to protect our unique natural heritage and encourage you and your family to get involved with conservation efforts in order to make a difference!

Our specially made nectar for the birds
We also feed a specially made nectar to the wild birds around the park. During spring months we go through over 21 litres a day, which we've figured out feeds over 2,000 wax eyes, tui's and bellbirds. For a copy of the recipe please click here.
